The first time that a man from either country has captured the Miami title in its 24-year history. Two, you'll see that Davydenko has switched to the Prince Ozone Pro Tour for this tournament. According to Prince sources, the Ozone Pro Tour is the same cosmetic he has been using but in a denser string pattern. Not only is he using a new Prince frame, but this is his first tournament playing in Prince's new O-Series footwear as Nikolay has been wearing the OV1 shoe throughout the tournament.

Nikolay Davydenko, from Russia beat Rafael Nadal in the Sony Ericsson Open.

Davyenko commented on his performance after the match. He said that his "tennis was so good today. I think it's the best tennis of the hard-court season." He continued, "Here Nadal was favourite, and also in semi-final Roddick was the favorite. Just to beat two guys in two sets is like amazing for me."

Nadal also commented on his performance. "I think he [Davydenko] played at a good level. He played a good match, but I didn't play well today." He continued, "So when you don't play at 100% at this level against top players, it's tough to win, especially on a hard surface. So I congratulate him more because he played better than me."

Rafael Nadal Parera

Nadal is a Spanish professional tennis player who has been ranked World No. 1 since August 18, 2008. He has won six Grand Slam singles titles and the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles. He has captured the last four French Open singles titles, joining Björn Borg in 2008 as the only man to have won four consecutive singles titles there. In 2008, Nadal became the second Spanish man to win Wimbledon. Nadal is the only player in the open era to have won the French Open, the London Queen's club, and Wimbledon in the same year.[1] In 2009, Nadal became the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open, the fourth male tennis player—behind Jimmy Connors, Mats Wilander and Andre Agassi—to win Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces, and the first male tennis player to hold Grand Slam singles titles on three different surfaces simultaneously (2008 French Open, 2008 Wimbledon Championships, and 2009 Australian Open).

For much of his career, Nadal has had a rivalry with Roger Federer, which many consider to be among the greatest in tennis history.
